About the author
Born in Stockport, Great Britain, in 1972, Beatriz Uribe began her artistic career doing watercolours in the USA. There she was guided by Jim Black, a renowned watercolourist based in Texas, and for three years she not only produced a large number of works but also held exhibitions that led her to take seriously the idea of taking up painting.
After his successful stay in the USA, Uribe returned to Spain to graduate from the School of Art and Design in Sant Cugat (Barcelona). In 2010 he completed his studies within the curricular training of artistic drawing, technical drawing and art history.

Beatriz Uribe has had numerous national and international exhibitions. Her first exhibitions were in the USA where she lived and, subsequently, she has continued to exhibit her work in Pamplona, Barcelona and Madrid. In Madrid she was selected to show her work at the Affordable Art Fair in Amsterdam through the Gaudí Gallery. She has also collaborated in online courses on watercolour technique with the prestigious watercolourist Jim Black.
A very personal way of understanding art
Location and physical surroundings can have a great impact on artists. In this sense, Uribe is not only inspired by her surroundings, she has also been enriched by the internal process of creation, the attitude, the casualness and sometimes the superficiality of the characters, ideas and images.
So much so that the painter herself has acknowledged:
If I meet a group of happy women dancing and enjoying themselves, I would like to dream and pretend that I am one of them. To draw and paint I allow myself to create my own little world. So I am using realism as an art form to create an unadorned realistic image, simplifying the scene of a dream world for me".
