There is not only one way to take care of your skin. As the types of treatments and the range of cosmetics multiply constantly, the methods of applying them evolve with them. That's why, in the race we are in towards a world that is not only more comfortable but also healthier, "drinking" these treatments is the latest trend in beauty.
Nutraceuticals entered our lives a long time ago, but they continue to advance with strong principles: "It's a complement to the daily beauty routine that helps the skin from the inside: they have the exact amount of vitamins and minerals that the body needs daily," explains Mari Cruz Arcas, Scientific Director of Beauty&Go. And, above all, they have clear objectives that concern us. As Manuel Jiménez, President of the Spanish Society of Therapeutic Nutrition and Nutricosmetics, states, "nutricosmetics consumers seek a healthy and beautifying effect: anti-aging, hair improvement, nail enhancement, eye enhancement, silhouette reduction, cellulite reduction, wrinkle reduction, and, of course, skin benefits."
This is where these drinks come in, which indeed complement the basic care applied topically and help improve the health and appearance of the skin. "There is still a long way to go to reach the volume of topical treatments," says Anabel Vázquez, founder of Laconicum, to S Moda, "but drinks have their place, and more and more people are bold and willing to try them. Especially convinced by brands like Something, which is 100% natural and easily overcomes the reluctance to ingest cosmetics."
The best part? Drinking is something we do every day, and with this simple gesture, we can not only stay hydrated but also radiate beauty. Take note of the drinks that will work from within to achieve it:
1. Fruit and Vegetable Juices
Citrus fruits provide vitamin C and antioxidants, carrots provide carotenoids (which also function as antioxidants), spinach provides beta-carotene that improves skin tone, avocados provide vitamin B that soothes the skin, mangoes provide vitamin A (among others) and phenols, and red fruits provide flavonoids that reduce cellular oxidation... All fruits and vegetables have benefits for our body, and all can be turned into a delicious juice or smoothie. Start there.
2. Infused Water
The same goes for any water infused with fruits or vegetables. For example, cucumber: it will be a 100% hydrating drink because it is rich in water and provides nutrients like potassium and magnesium that improve skin tone and brightness.
3. Green Tea
It is one of the drinks with the highest antioxidant content. In other words, it has anti-aging properties. Its polyphenols slow down aging, prevent acne and pimples, reduce inflammation, and eczema. Its effect is so powerful that, in addition to being brewed as infusion, many brands have also turned it into capsules or concentrated drinkable ampoules.
4. More Teas
Other less common varieties also work. For example, ginger tea, whose anti-inflammatory properties help reduce irritated skin, for example, after prolonged sun exposure. Or more specific ones, like the Expedition Tea from the Dr. Jackson's brand, sold in Spain by Laconicum: "It has been created as an alternative to caffeine; only natural ingredients full of antioxidants and minerals with anti-aging properties have been used, and it contains baobab strands, which have 6 times more antioxidants than green tea," they tell us.

5. Aloe Vera
Its effects are well known in creams and other cosmetics and even when applied directly from its leaf to the skin. However, aloe vera juice can also be consumed to treat the skin: "It contains minerals such as iron, magnesium, zinc, calcium, sodium, and potassium, as well as Vitamins A, B, C, and E," say those from Mifarma. Therefore, it functions as a detox and digestive treatment and to prevent fluid retention, favoring the function of skin cells and tissues. And yes, you can find it in convenient formats for easy consumption, like this one from the Aloe Pura brand available at Mifarma.
6. Collagen
Our body produces it naturally, and its main functions are to keep the skin smooth and toned, as well as to strengthen both hair and nails, and the bones and joints of our body. However, its production levels decrease with age... So, an additional dose will enhance its effect. "Drinkable collagen complements the radiance provided by cosmetic treatments and improves digestive system function to prevent dull skin," says pharmacist Meritxell Martí about one of her star products, Unique Pink Collagen. Its solution comes in powder, to be dissolved in water, but there are also other options in capsules or drinkable minidoses.
7. Kombucha
It tastes like a soda, improves digestion, and is trendy. Although kombucha is nothing new, it is becoming more popular as people become aware of its composition and power. "It is a fermented drink made from green tea, water, sugar, and a culture of bacteria and yeast called scoby," explain those from Top Doctors. So it has the properties of all its components: it improves collagen formation, eliminates bacteria (including some that cause acne), provides brightness and elasticity to the skin, and, of course, hydrates. In addition to drinking it - some brands bottle it like KeVita or the Spanish Komvida - it is also moving in the opposite direction and is already reaching the cosmetic world.
8. Beauty Drinks
And if each of the components we have mentioned has such power on its own, what will a well-formulated and good-tasting cocktail of several of them do? The nutricosmetic market quickly realized this, and several brands make their own beauty drinks. "We have found that drinking one of our beverages a day increases skin radiance, firmness, and elasticity," explains Mari Cruz Arcas, Scientific Director of Beauty&Go. Their four formulas have different ingredient blends and, therefore, different effects to choose from or combine them all.
