It's the eternal question. To clarify it, we have spoken with an expert

Nutritional supplements are always under scrutiny. There are doctors completely dedicated to their cause in almost the same proportion as those who say they are useless. The fact is that the market continues to grow and offers solutions for all kinds of problems, from the classics - sun protection, strengthening hair and nails - to the most recent ones, which address weight control, cellulite, joint health, and collagen formation.
We asked Esther Sansi, pharmacist and mastermind behind Sansi_Farma pharmacy, a few questions, and here is what she told us.
Is it a good idea to introduce supplements into our lifestyle?
Yes. We have a high level of stress and our diet is not as balanced as we would like, so it's possible that our body may lack the vitamins and nutrients it needs. From the age of 40, I consider them essential because at that age, the production of certain molecules begins to decrease, such as collagen, which is as essential for the skin as it is for the joints.
Many doctors believe that supplements are driven by commercial interests
The problem is that supplements have become fashionable, and many laboratories have created formulas with very low concentrations of active ingredients that offer minimal results. I believe that it is important to look for very reputable laboratories that offer powerful and high-quality formulas to ensure a 99% effect.
Can we take supplements all the time?
You can't abuse supplementation because it can be harmful in excess
. You shouldn't take them recklessly; it's necessary to have a prescription to take only what our body needs. So, is it better to discuss it with a doctor?
I always recommend doing so because some supplements are harmless, but others, such as spirulina, are contraindicated for people with thyroid problems.
Are there supplements that cannot be mixed?
In principle, there are no incompatible supplements. Normally, taking certain active ingredients enhances the absorption of others. For example, in weight control diets, I recommend including ginger because it reduces anxiety and has a satiating effect.
